Security breach widens at retailers, others (AP)

NEW YORK – Best Buy Co., TiVo Inc., and Walgreen Co. are the stylish in a ostensibly endless progress of companies to monish over the weekend that hackers gained access to customers' files, including telecommunicate addresses.

The companies all use the aforementioned marketing and communications vendor called Epsilon, a directive marketing services firm. Epsilon, based in Dallas, issued a short statement on weekday locution "a flooded enquiry was low way" following the discovery of the severance of some client computer data. The company had said that aggregation obtained was "limited to telecommunicate addresses and /or client obloquy only and that "a demanding assessment observed no other individualized classifiable aggregation associated with the obloquy was at risk."

Epsilon spokeswoman Jessica Simon, who was reached by sound New Sunday, declined to comment beyond the table of the press release.

Several of the companies strained said Epsilon informed them of the severance and told them the compromised files do not allow some personally classifiable aggregation stored with the marketer.

Best Buy tweeted a link to a statement Sunday, locution it was doing its own enquiry of the breach. The nation's largest consumer electronics concern also reminded customers to cut emails asking for confidential information. Meanwhile, Delaware-based Barclays Bank, which issues Visa assign game on behalf of L.L. Bean, sent emails to its customers warning of the severance but assured them that their assign bill drawing are safe. However, it cautioned they could be person to telecommunicate seeking individualized information.

TiVo and Walgreens on Sat issued kindred warnings.

JPMorgan Chase & Co. and mart cause Kroger Co, which also use Epsilon to beam emails, said weekday they had been strained by the breach. JPMorgan said the files afraid did not allow customers' financial details. Kroger said that while a database with client obloquy and telecommunicate addresses had been breached, no aggregation connected with consumers' 1-2-3 Rewards MasterCard statement had been involved.
