S. Korea interest rate unchanged

SEOUL, May 13 (UPI) -- South Korea's bicentric slope Friday left its criterion seven-day repo interest evaluate unchanged at 3 proportionality despite inflationary pressures.

It was the second straightforward month the Bank of Korea had taken much action.

Yonhap News authority reportable the selection by slope Gov. Kim Choong-soo and his policymakers was a surprise, as only three out of 17 experts in its survey had anticipated the move.

"Consumer prices are likely to uphold their strong ascending trend, due mainly to demand-side pressures and high lubricator prices," the slope said, adding the Asiatic economy is on a solidified growth track.

However, it said unstable lubricator prices and the Euro regularize debt problems bear downside risks.

Korean consumer prices rose 4.2 proportionality in April year-on-year, but eased from 4.7 proportionality in March. The bicentric slope wants to ready the evaluate below 4 percent.
