Utah mayors express concern over pipeline restart (AP)

SALT LAKE CITY – Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker and Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon are expressing concern over Chevron's plans to uphold a scuttlebutt that burst twice last year, spilling hundreds of barrels of oil.
Both mayors say Chevron should hit talked to them prototypal before announcing it had received permission from federal regulators to uphold the line on Feb. 1, the Deseret News reported.
Corroon said he's "deeply concerned" that the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration approved the scuttlebutt uphold without adequate act with local officials.
"We hit not had instance to analyse the flooded start organisation to secure it protects the interests of the Salt Lake Valley," he said in a statement.
Becker is asking Chevron to stop soured on the uphold until the municipality and its outside consultant crapper thoroughly evaluate the plan.

About 500 barrels of lubricator spilled near Red Butte Garden in Dec in the same Atlantic where 800 barrels spilled in June. Unlike the early spill, crews kept nearly every the lubricator from achievement Red Butte Creek in December.
Federal regulators fined Chevron nearly $424,000 for the June spill.
The scuttlebutt has been closed downbound while an autarkical policeman evaluates its safety.
Chevron spokesman Mickey Driver said the consort gave a copy of the organisation to the city's outside consultant on weekday preceding to gift it to the mayor's office.
