Grain futures mixed in Chicago

CHICAGO, Apr 13 (UPI) -- Grain futures closed mixed Wednesday as cold, wet defy was prognosticate for the Midwest, affecting corn planting and conditions for season wheat.

Corn was up 3 to up 8 1/2, soybeans were up 3 3/4 to up 5 1/4, cereal was soured 2 to soured 6 3/4 and oats were soured 4 to soured 4 1/4.

The land of Iowa warned farmers conditions would be too algid for corn planting, which could delay the planting beyond just the weekend, as rain is also expected soon. Wheat futures dropped slightly, though tenders from Jordan and Tunisia gave the mart whatever support. Traders said China is considering canceling or deferring whatever contracts dealing with South American sources.

The prices:

Corn: May 7.55 1/2 up 3, Jly 7.61 up 3 1/2, Sep 7.02 1/2 up 6, Dec 6.45 up 8 1/2.

Soybeans: May 13.33 1/2 up 3 3/4, Jly 13.45 up 4, Aug 13.47 1/2 up 4 1/4, Sep 13.49 1/2 up 5 1/4.

Wheat: 7.52 3/4 soured 6 3/4, Jly 7.88 soured 4 1/4, Sep 8.27 1/4 soured 3 1/4, Dec 8.58 1/2 soured 2.

Oats: May 3.86 3/4 soured 4 1/4, Jly 3.95 1/2 soured 4, Sep 3.99 1/2 soured 4, Dec 4.04 soured 4.
