GM lays off 96 to make room for re-hiriing

DETROIT, April 7 (UPI) -- U.S. automaker General Motors Co. said it would change 100 temporary workers at Michigan's Lansing Delta Township works with most 150 imperishable workers.

The plan includes designate in imperishable workers ordered soured from GM plants in Willow Run and Orion Township in Michigan and Janesville, Wis, The Detroit Free Press reportable Thursday.

United Auto Workers Local 602 President Bill Reed said 96 temporary workers, who hit been working nearly a assemblage and were earning $14 per hour, were ordered soured at the end of last week.

Reed said, "it's kind of a hornlike abstract to see. I've developed relationships รข€¦ with a lot of these grouping who are effort ordered off."

Workers with oldness at GM earn an average of $28 per hour, while workers who started after 2007 earn $14 per hour.

GM is allowed low its UAW lessen to designate workers from being to plant. In March, UAW vice president Joe Aston said GM would rehire most 2,000 laid-off workers this year.
